A very nice small restaurant in a small town in southern Germany. It can be found on the market square. The food is very good and I think, moderately priced. In summer it's nice to sit outside and watch the world go by while eating lunch, and it goes by slowly. The local wine is also worth a mention. If your really lucky, there might be a bottle from the town itself.

In Öxles Restaurant there is a cozy atmosphere. It is located right in the center of the picturesque town of Markdorf, close to the market space and church. The food in this slightly upscale restaurant is fantastic. I had the Zwibelrostbraten - a local variation of steak and it was prepared to perfection. Buttery soft, juicy meat and perfect handmade Spätzle. The best steak i had in years! Thus I could only describe the restaurant with highest recommendations. I Since it's quality is well known, it is usually packed and reservations are recommended.

Good typical southern German cuisine with excellent and charming service. Two daily lunch specials ( non-vegetarian [friday =fish] and vegetarian) 9 €. Great terrace in the summer months.

They speak and have English menus. I got the grilled chicken, and holy crap, that was the best Chicken I've ever had. The cook even came out to make sure his food was up to our standards! Friendly waiters/waitresses. Definitely a 5 star restaurant in my book!

Happened to be coming through Markdorf on the way from Salem to Friedrichshafen and this was a pleasant surprise. Clearly, they have been in business for quite a long time and know what they are doing! The Jagerschnitzel was excellent, and the rump steak was even better! The meat was coated in butter, which makes it excellent. Very good salad and side dishes, like spaetzli, as well! Place could use a bit of updating inside, but I don't care much about that. Great location with indoor and outdoor seating (although I wish the smokers would stay away - that's Germany, though). Will definitely try to comeback. Service was okay to just above average (it was crowded when we arrived), but the server was very nice and clearly knew quite a bit of English (although I know German pretty well). If you are in the area, it should be your traditional German restaurant of choice!

I must admit my visit was just for a business lunch, I did not pay the bill, otherwise I would have ordered a more elaborate dish, and we were time constrained. Overall, the food was flavorful, fresh, well prepared, precisely seasoned, well presented, appetizing, and fulfilling. I look forward to a future visit!
